Mental Illness or Demon Possession?

Yes, there is evil in the world. Suicide bombers, mass shooters, those who use vehicles to murder, etc. The problem is not guns, vests or vehicles, it is the state of the individuals that use these things to destroy life – for whatever reason. The government must do what it can to protect the people within the limits of the Constitution. The people must also do what they can to protect themselves. The Body of Christ on the other hand must also do their part.

Let me say right off that I am not saying mental illness does not exist. I do believe, however, that we are overlooking a very important scriptural truth – demon possession. Demon possession is real and is more common then we may think. Not one person that Jesus dealt with was diagnosed mental illness – not one. The Bible tells us they were demon possessed and the only way to deal with it is to cast the demon out, not give it drugs. That is how Jesus handled it and He gave us the authority to do it as well.

  • Agreed, Joe. The system’s way is to medicate and mask or pacify the underlying issue. In many instances, the medication itself opens doors for the entrance to more demonic influence and possession. The body of Christ needs to be more aware of these things and unafraid to tackle them head on!

  • Demons are definitely real. I’ve had a few encounters. People think it’s weird that I feel peaceful walking in a cemetery at night, but I’d feel very uneasy walking through a psych ward because I’ve long felt that there are far more hostile entities (supernatural) than there are in a graveyard where the spirits have most likely long since gone. Hence the peaceful vibe.
