Love’s Gift

God loves us and all His creation so much that He gave His Son Jesus the Messiah that we might be reconciled to Him! “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him, John 3:16-17. God is love, 1 John 4. Love is not only expressed in words but in action, love gives. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8. God not only told us He loves us He demonstrates His love to us. His overwhelming love and affection for us caused Him to send His only begotten Son to earth to redeem mankind.

Jesus came as a real human baby. Not as a spirit only or a full grown man, mature, ready to lead and perform miracles. But, as a baby, fully dependent on his parents to care for Him. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father, Philippians 2:5-11. He came to His own and those who were His own did not receive Him, John 1. Jesus gave His life for us; He lived for us and He willingly died for us. That’s what Love does.

The Word

The Apostle John tells us that Jesus is the Word and He existed before the world was created.  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it, John 1:1-5. Verse one starts out with, “in the beginning” and is the same wording as in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. Jesus is the Word and He existed before the material world and everything that has been created. The Word is not a creature nor a created being. The Word is eternal. The Word was with God in intimate union and the Word was God. Jesus the Word is above all and over all. Jesus the Word created all things and has power over all things including all sin, all sickness, all disease, poverty, lack, and the entire demonic realm! No lie, no perversion, no seducing spirit, no oppression, no depression, no demon can stand before the Word. The Word has creative power and destructive power. You cannot separate God the Father from His Word. Nor can you separate Jesus from the Word for He is the Word. Jesus the Word and God the Father are One. Jesus the Word gives full expression to God the Father. He (Jesus the Word) is the radiance of God’s glory the exact representation of the Father’s nature, Hebrews 1. The Father is fully communicated to us and the world through Christ Jesus. Jesus said if we have seen Him we have seen the Father. The same should be said of us, the sons of God.

The Life

In Him was life. The word for life is zoe. Zoe is God’s life, the very same life God has and the same life Jesus lived on earth. It is the life Adam and Eve enjoyed until they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Zoe is the abundant life Jesus said He came to give us, John 10:10. It is a quality of life we are created to experience and enjoy. That life is in Jesus the Word. Zoe life is in the Word. We cannot experience this type of life outside of Christ, the Word. We must receive Jesus, by being born again to obtain zoe life. Zoe life is restored to us through the new birth and sustained in us by the Word and through the Word.

The Light

The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it. The nature of light dispels darkness. Darkness does not dispel light. It gets dark outside not because the darkness comes and overtakes the sun. The earth rotates away from the sun therefore darkness ensues. Darkness is the result of the absence of light. Darkness is a metaphor for all that is evil or simply stated, all that is not of God. Darkness cannot perceive light, overtake it or seize it. Darkness cannot stand in the presence of light. Jesus the Word is the Light of the world and He said that we, all the sons and daughters of God, are the light of the world. The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them, Isaiah 9:2.

Our eyes need light to see. Without light it is difficult and even impossible to see. It is the same in the natural as in the spiritual. Jesus being Light enables us to “see”. To see truth and see what the Father is doing. We are light and as we walk in the light we are able to have fellowship with God and help those in darkness to “see”.

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin, 1 John 1:5-7.

Jesus the Word…period!

Nothing but the Word!

Nothing added to Him and nothing taken from Him. This is He who coming into the world is the Way, the Truth and the Life! No man comes to the Father but through Him, John 14:6.

We celebrate you Jesus!

Jezebel Pt. 2

Jezebel was the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians (Phoenicians), which is present day Lebanon. Ethbaal was also the priest of baal and his name means “with baal”. Baal was a sun god of nature and fertility. Asherah was a moon goddess associated with baal. These two were the main male and female representatives of a host of false gods. Worship of asherah included sexual immorality, prostitution, divination and fortune telling. As a princess, Jezebel grew up with this influence instilled by her father and surrounded by a nation that worshipped false gods and idols. Jezebel became like what she beheld so much so, she was possessed. In speaking about idols, Psalm 115 says; Those who make them will become like them.

Before Jezebel could accomplish her demonic work in Israel, she must have legal access. What better way than by marrying the king of Israel, Ahab. Ahab was more concerned with the luxuries of this world than he was with serving the Lord God of Israel. He was a selfish and morally weak man who compromised when it came to the will of God. This type of character in a person is a perfect match for the Jezebel spirit. In 1 Kings 21:25-26 it says this about Ahab; Surely there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him. He acted very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord cast out before the sons of Israel.

Perhaps Ahab desired to cement a political and economic alignment with Sidon and marrying Jezebel would be an advantage. Maybe he just found her to be beautiful and lust consumed him. Regardless, Ahab violated a clear command from God that the Israelites were not to intermarry with those who serve foreign gods, Deut. 7:3. When you violate scripture for any reason it never turns out good. This unholy alliance was crafted in hell and Ahab was a willing participant. Much to the disagreement of some, Satan does not have free will to do whatever evil he desires. He must gain access by convincing us to give it to him by any deceptive means necessary. You see, God gave the earth to man and through men He is able to accomplish His will on the earth. This is a reason why Jesus needed to come as a man. Satan must function the same way to achieve his wicked will on the earth, through men.

Married to Ahab, Jezebel now had access and influence over her husband and therefore influence in Israel. Ahab became and idol worshipper and he infected the nation as a result of Jezebel’s influence. Ahab erected an altar to Baal establishing the worship of baal in Israel. Jezebel’s wicked influence through the unholy alliance and covenant of marriage with the king of Israel caused the persecution of all that was holy and the worship of Jehovah. She killed all but 100 prophets of God and raised up 850 of her own demonic prophets. She arranged for an innocent man to be murdered so Ahab could have his land to plant a vegetable garden. Jezebel was wicked, evil, seductive, controlling, manipulative and intimidating with no regard for life.

Two Elijahs

After Elijah had an amazing victory over eight hundred and fifty of her demonic false prophets and then killed them all, Jezebel sent him a letter that terrified him, 1 Kings 18,19. Imagine it, Elijah has a show down with all the demonic forces in Israel, one against eight hundred and fifty! He then kills all of them and afterward receives a letter from Jezebel. A letter! Not Jezebel in person, just a letter, written by her promising to do to him as he did to her prophets and it drives fear in the great man of God. Elijah runs for his life. He is depressed and suicidal, 1 Kings 19.

Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah or in other words has an Elijah spirit. He too was taunted by the Jezebel of his day that manifested in Herodias. John was arrested and in put in prison. While in prison, John sent his disciples to go ask Jesus if he was the Expected One or should they look for someone else, Matthew 11. John knew Jesus was the Messiah. He proclaimed it when Jesus showed up while he was baptizing. He even baptized Jesus when God spoke. But the demonic effects of the Jezebel spirit was causing doubt and confusion in John. One night Herodias’ daughter danced seductively before Herod. Herod promises her up to half of his kingdom. Herodias told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist. Not wanting to behead John, Herod’s pride would lead him to do it anyway. One scheme of Jezebel is to cut off the head of the prophets of God silencing the voice of God in the earth. The Jezebel spirit hates the spirit of Elijah and she is in an all out war against the prophetic voice of God in and effort to stop or hinder the will of God from being accomplished.

This spirit is active in our nation, cities, congregations and families. Since Jesus told the ekklesia they were tolerating Jezebel He was also implying we do not have to, it is our choice. He already gave us the authority and power to overcome this spirit and drive it out!
