PEACE is a Divine Weapon

This is a repost of a blog I posted in January 2016. With fear permeating the world and our country due to a Coronavirus, COVID-19, this message is more relevant than ever. When people are fearful they need truth and peace. The Family of God is the place they should receive the truth. Too often, the world finds Christians in just as much fear and confusion as they are like they did during 9-11. Being anchored to Christ Jesus is peace because He is The Prince of Peace. The government has a responsibility during this health issue, however, the Ekklesia has a responsibility as well and they are not the same.

The Apostle Paul, in closing his letter to the Romans, gives a warning in chapter 16:17-18. He said to “…keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.  For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting”. This sounds like a warning that would be given today. One we should take note of.

God of Peace

After he said this, he then praised the Romans for their obedience and exhorted them to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil. He then followed that up with a promise; The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you, Romans 16:20 (NASB).

The God of peace? He could have used any one of the many names or references to the Lord, but the Holy Spirit through Paul chose, “the God of peace”. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. Why peace?

2 Corinthians chapter 10 tells us that we have divinely powerful weapons of warfare at our disposal. These weapons are not according to the flesh or carnal in nature. 2 Corinthians 6:7 says we have weapons of righteousness. God has given us weapons that do not make sense in the natural or by human reasoning. Peace is one such weapon. Peace is part of the armor of God in Ephesians 6:15, shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Our feet shod with peace gives us a firm footing and keeps us stable and steady.

In Philippians 4:7 the Bible says, the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful”. If Jesus said He is leaving us with something you can bet we will need it. He is also saying in this passage that if we receive His peace it will keep our hearts from being troubled and fearful.

The current events of our time is causing many to be anxious, worried and fearful. These are some of the weapons of the domain of darkness used against the people of God. The world and it’s systems are shaking. I am so thankful that the Lord has given us a Kingdom that cannot be shaken!

The peace of God is not a luxury for us, it is a necessity in this hour. Philippians 1:28 tells us, in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. Notice it says that a lack of being “alarmed” is a sign of destruction for our opponents. Residing in divine peace when there is chaos all around us is a sign to our opponents that they are finished! Amazing!

Take note of this verse in Revelation 4:6, before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal. A sea of glass like crystal is a metaphor for what is calm, at peace and rest. There are no waves or even ripples causing any kind of worry or anxiety whatsoever. God is at peace and rest and He rules on His throne from peace and rest.

in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God, Philippians 1:28

Divine peace is an internal state of being, it is not contingent on outward circumstances. Jesus was in peace even in the midst of His arrest and His crucifixion. Regardless of what is going on in our world or all around us we can dwell in divine peace and rest of heart and mind. This is the true sabbath rest the Lord has for us.

Peace is a divine weapon that our opponents have no answer for.

Not only can we dwell in this place of peace and rest but we are to rule from that place. The Bible tells us that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We are to rule with Christ over the earth from a place of peace and rest not worry or fear. Fear, worry, and anxiousness will cause us to misinterpret what the Lord is saying and showing us to do.

The more we know the God of peace the more of the peace of God we will walk in. Peace is a divine weapon that our opponents have no answer for.

Jezebel

Part 3 ~ The Elijah Generation

This is part three of a series on the Jezebel spirit. Please refer to the first two blog posts.

The Jezebel spirit not only believes it is above the law, it believes it is the law and will try to convince us of this lie. The power of this spirit lies within its ability to stay hidden and work behind the scenes. Jezebel wasn’t the king she was the queen, the puppet master pulling the strings. As long as we are ignorant of this spirit and its schemes, it has the upper hand. We are in trouble if we do not believe we have an enemy and we do not know the tactics he uses against us. We must not be ignorant of our enemies’ schemes, 2 Cor. 2:10. We do not war against flesh and blood…, Ephesians 6. However, we do war.

It is evident this spirit is working in our nation; in politics, the media, our families and our congregations. Why? Because we are tolerating it. I believe we have gone beyond tolerating it to accepting it, mostly out of ignorance. Since Jesus told the ekklesia they were tolerating Jezebel He was also implying we shouldn’t be tolerating it. Not only that, He already gave us the authority and power to overcome this spirit and drive it out!

What made Jezebel a Jezebel is also what makes us vulnerable to its influence.

First, we must drive out any idol worship in our own lives. We cannot overcome Jezebel with the same spirit operating in us. We must operate in a different spirit than that of our enemy. The main idol we worship is “self”. Self is at the core of all other idols. Idols of convenience, entertainment, self-image, self-gratification, children, spouse, money, success, glory, etc. Simply stated an idol is anything or anyone that we are devoted to more than Christ Jesus. It is the same motivation of Satan; he is all about himself and ever trying to redirect our worship. This is why Jesus told us; “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it, Matt 16:24-25. The word “must” does not mean it is optional.

The idol in modern day America is “self”.

Elijah represents the voice of God and the will of God in the earth. Jezebel on the other hand, represents the will of Hell to silence the voice of God and stop the will of God from being accomplished on the earth. Satan always reacts to what God is doing, not the other way around. God didn’t send Elijah because there was a Jezebel. Jezebel showed up because there was an Elijah coming. Jezebel is no match for the spirit of Elijah. Elijah demonstrated the power of God to all Israel and then killed 850 false prophets of Jezebel, 1 Kings 18. Take note; when we are submitted to the Lord operating in faith, Jezebel cannot stop us.

God didn’t send Elijah because there was a Jezebel. Jezebel showed up because there was an Elijah coming.

Long after Elijah, Malachi prophesied that Elijah was coming to restore the hearts of Father’s to their children and children to their fathers, Mal. 4:6. Not the first man named Elijah but, the “spirit” of Elijah was coming. In response to a question from His disciples, Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah and He also said that Elijah is coming and will restore all things, Matt 17:11. Among the many similarities between Elijah and John the Baptist, they both dressed alike and were rough looking. They both dwelled in the wilderness and had interesting diets. They both confronted wicked kings of their day and both were harassed by Jezebel. John lost his head at the hands of this wicked spirit.

So, we have the man Elijah, then John the Baptist who had the spirit of Elijah and then another Elijah; the spirit of Elijah that is coming Jesus said. Jesus also said he (Elijah) will restore all things. Who is this other Elijah? We are! The Ekklesia. The spirit of Elijah is not on just one man as it was with Elijah and John the Baptist. It is on a generation of born-again children of God baptized in the Holy Spirit with explosive power. In a similar way, Jesus said it was better for Him to leave so the Holy Spirit would come and fill a generation of people with the presence and power of Christ.

We are an Elijah generation that is to function as one new man in the power of the Holy Spirit. Remember, Jesus said Elijah will restore all things. We are living in a period of the restoration of all things, Acts 3:20. God the Father also said to Jesus; “Sit at My right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”, Luke 20:42-43, Psalm 110:1. Who is He going to use to make His enemies a footstool?

An Elijah generation is here and rising!
